| In
this preliminary phase, the architect reviews and studies the owner's
objectives, local zoning regulations, and the site information, in
order to establish the basic parameters for the project. The architect
often records existing conditions and measurements of the site as
well as the location and mass of features on adjacent sites that may
affect the project. For residential projects, the Architect usually
provides a general site analysis to determine potential views, sun
exposure, privacy issues, and preferred open outdoor spaces, in order
to help create a positive fit between the building and the site. When
the project consists of a renovation or an addition to an existing
building, the architect will also provide as-built plans; these are
drawings of the existing building based on field measurements and
existing drawings. |
